Morocco The itinerary for the 5-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert begins at 8:00 a.m. You will travel from Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou via the Tizi N Tichka road. The latter is Morocco’s largest and oldest Kasbah; you will explore it before driving to Ouarzazate’s Atlas studios to discover them. Not only that, but also visit Taourirt’s Kasbah.

You will then travel to Boumalne Dades by the Roses Valley, where you will most likely visit one of the rose water cooperatives.

When you arrive in Boumalne dades, you will be taken to a local Riad/hotel for the night.
The following day, you will drive through Todgha Gorges and Erfoud to reach Merzouga desert for the camel ride and overnight stay.

After a relaxing night at the Berber camp, you will visit some of Merzouga’s most popular attractions. For example, Khamlia villages, Kohl and Baryte mines, and a plethora of other sights to behold.

The fourth day will be spent driving through the Anti Atlas mountains and the Berber villages of Nkob, Alnif, and Agdez before arriving at Zagora desert for another camel ride and night at the camp.

You will eventually return to Marrakech via the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi N Tichka, where our 5 day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert itinerary concludes.

Trip itinerary:

5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert

Day 1. Marrakech – Ait ben haddou – Ouarzazate

We will pick you up at 8 am at the agreed place, to start our unforgettable journey from Marrakech to the High Atlas crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2260m) with stops to enjoy and photograph the panoramic views that the road offers us. We will visit the cooperative where women work for the production of Argan Oil to learn about the process of realization. They will explain the innumerable benefits it has for the human body.

Then we will go to the village of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit the Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). There have been filmed important movies such as Gladiator, the Jewel of the Nile, Lawrence of Arabia, among others. We will have lunch there and then head to Ouarzazate, a place full of charm and traditions. Dinner and overnight…

Day 2. Ouarzazate – Daraa Valley – Erg Chebbi dunes.

After breakfast we will depart to the Draa Valley, where it crosses one of the longest rivers in Morocco. We will make several stops to see the adobe kasbahs and Berber villages of the Draa Valley. We will pass through the oasis and different villages until we reach the kasbah of Caid Ali, Tamnougalt.

Then we will go to Alnif where we will have our lunch. We will continue our journey to the gates of the desert. There we will ride a camel to travel between the dunes of the Sahara -ERG CHEBBI- to the place where we will stay in the desert. Once we arrive at the camp, you can climb the big dune to watch the sunset or practice sandsurfing. You will enjoy a typical dinner, listen to live music on drums around a fire and contemplate the stars in the silence of the desert. You will stay in comfortable tents, equipped with comfortable beds, bathroom and hot water. Dinner and overnight in the desert.

Day 3. The dunes of Erg Chebbi – Khamlia – Merzouga

You can wake up early to see the sunrise and contemplate the sunrise between the dunes. After breakfast, we will return to the car, to leave for the village of Khamlia, which is originally from Mali, where we will have a cup of tea while we are offered a small concert of live Gnawa music. Lunch and free afternoon. Before sunset, we will drive to the highest dune to contemplate an unforgettable sunset. After dinner, and enjoy a Berber show with drums. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4. Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After breakfast we leave for Rissani to visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali chref the founder of the Alaouit dynasty, then we head to Erfoud to visit the fossilized marble factory to continue to Tourog to visit the ancient subway irrigation. We will arrive in the Todra Valley where we will have lunch. After lunch we will have a guided tour of the palm grove and the Jewish quarter. We continue our journey to the gorges.

The Todra River has formed a gorge with huge vertical walls of great beauty; it is a paradise for climbers and a unique and incomparable place. We will take a half hour walk to see the Gorges at leisure. In the afternoon we will continue to the Dades Valley through Boumalne. We will arrive at the Dades Gorges with several stops for photos. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5. Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast we will leave for Boumalne, Dades. After several stops we will head towards the route of the Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of the Roses where we will stop for a coffee and visit a cooperative of rose cosmetics.

Then we will head towards the great palm grove of Skoura where we will stop to visit the 17th century kasbah of Amredil. Arrival in Ouarzazate where we will take our lunch and visit the kasbah of Taourirt which was the former residence of the Glaoui or Pasha of Marrakech. Then we will continue our journey through the mountain Tizi N’Tichka with stops to take pictures of the landscape. Arrival in Marrakech and transfer to the agreed place. End of our services.
