On the first day of our 3 days in Morocco, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation at 08:00 and you will leave Fes for Todra Gorges, passing through Ifrane, known as Morocco’s Switzerland, built by the French in the 1930’s in the Swiss village style, we will continue crossing the middle Atlas and cedar forest near Azrou, we will stop near Azrou to see the barbary apes or ride a horse. Following that, you will travel through numerous Berber communities before arriving in Midelt for lunch.
We continue over the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the scenery and the picturesque route, until we reach the famous village of Imilchil, which is famed throughout Morocco for its traditional Berber marriages. It’s a typical Berber community with extremely simple Berber houses. There are beautiful vistas of mountains and lush valleys to be found there. We arrive at Todra Gorges at twilight, dine, and spend the night in a lovely hotel nestled amid mountains, rivers, and valleys.
Day 2: Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Risani - Merzouga
After breakfast, you will have time to go for a short walk in Todra gorge before heading for Merzouga through Amellago gorge, a real valley. This tour takes you through several tiny Berber communities, providing you with a unique insight into the daily life of the Berber people in this region. Continue to Risani through Guelmima, Touroug, and Erfoud. As we leave Risani for Merzouga, we will feel the beginning of the Saharan desert. We will arrive in Merzouga before dusk, and you will be able to see a typical Kasbah at the foot of the Erg-Chebbi Dunes. After a mint tea break, the guide and camels will be waiting to transport you over the Erg-sandy Chebbi’s dunes, where you will experience the splendor of the sunset on the dunes before arriving at the desert camp to spend the night in a berbre tent. Following a traditional supper, there will be a campfire and camel guid drumming.
Day 3: Merzouga - Medilt - Fes
In the morning, after breakfast, we will leave Merzouga passing through the city of Ifran, the so-called Moroccan Switzerland for its architectural style. We continue through the Tizi-n-Talent pass and through the Ziz Valley, which is particularly known for its palm trees and the length of the oases. Along the way there are countless “ksars”, small villages of individual houses, to continue to Errachidia and then Erfoud, famous for its festival of dates and its fossils.
