Trip itinerary:
Day 1: Fes - Ifran - Azrou - Medilt - Merzouga
We will pick you up from your hotel or Riad and begin our 4 days in Morocco from Fes drive south to Azrou via Ifrane (the little Switzerland of Morocco) and then to the Middle Atlas mountains stopping by cedar forest where you will be able to take some fascinating photos with the Barbarian Apes before continuing the way through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the Midelt landscapes.
After lunch, we’ll continue on to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga via the Ziz Valley. We will be greeted with a cup of tea upon arrival and will spend the night at the Hotel/Riad.
Day 2: Merzouga desert tour
After breakfast, we will continue our 4 days in Morocco, we’ll begin our exploration of the area by visiting a community of black people originating from Mali to see their music and way of life.
Following that, we will travel to Miffis Mines to see how they function before heading beyond the Dunes in a complete desert with stunning views, where we will relax for a warm cup of tea with the local Bedouins before returning to the hotel.
After a little rest, your local guides will show you how to mount and dismount your camel, as well as other useful camel-related safety advice, before you begin exploring the mystical Erg-Chebbi sand-sea. Spend the night in a Berber tent.
Day 3: Merzouga - Todra gorges
Before returning to our desert hotel, we will get up early in the morning to watch the best sunrise of your life, casting different shadows and colors over the sea of sand dunes, the highest in Morocco. After breakfast, we will continue to Tinghir and the stunning Todra Gorge, Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorges.
Hiking and resting by the river’s side, as well as enjoying some native Berber dishes, are popular activities in the canyon. We’ll have lunch in the gorge and then travel through the Dades Valley, where we’ll complete the day by spending the night in a lovely hotel at the top of the mountain.
Day 3: Todra gorges - Medilt - Fes
We gear up and begin our 4 Days in Morocco, Desert Tour from Fes to Merzouga and return to Fes after a fantastic local breakfast. We will leave Todgha Gorge and travel through palm groves to the Ziz Valley, where we will stop for tea and to take in the scenery.
As we journey north to Midelt, the mountains surround us, and nomadic villages with goat-hair tents can be seen in the fields. After lunch, we will continue our four-day journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains and woodlands, stopping to feed the naughty Barbary Monkeys in the cedar trees and stopping for coffee in Ifrane, the alpine village.
We’ll arrive at Fes late in the afternoon and say our goodbyes.
